CUMBERLAND ROADS UPGRADE PROJECT

When the Village of Cumberland undertook two major capital road construction projects, one of the main goals was to minimize inconveniences by preparing residents, project neighbours, downtown businesses and visitors for disruptions in advance. To keep the public informed about the two projects—which would benefit the Village by providing new, reliable underground utilities for the downtown core—the Village retained ZINC to provide communications support through a summer of traffic disruptions, noise and construction work to ensure the community understood the project. Traditional and digital tools (such as newsletters, online project diaries, and social media) were used to keep everyone informed while the Village worked to revitalize its foundation, one road at a time.
