As the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) moved to make roadside collection changes that would improve operations and reduce environmental impacts, they recognized the success would only come if the community was properly prepared. ZINC was brought on to inform and consult with residents in the City of Port Alberni about the new organics collection program as well as the transition to an auto-cart collection system. This involved creating a new online engagement hub: letsconnectacrd.ca, project brand and comprehensive information campaign, including: infosheets, social media posts, a project video and targeted ads – generating opportunities to hear and address questions proactively and support a smooth program roll out.
