CENTRAL SECTOR LWMP AMENDMENT

Amending the Central Sector Liquid Waste Management Plan to protect the Cowichan River was easy for residents of the Cowichan Valley Regional District to understand. The challenge for the CVRD and its partners was to create a thorough public consultation plan to help determine a new treated effluent outfall for the amended plan. ZINC supported the development and rollout of a public consultation strategy that informed and engaged the community, resulting in an outcome that was supported by key stakeholders in the community including special interest groups and members of the general public. By using infosessions, lobby displays, newsletters and other tools, the CVRD created consultation that was thorough and effective.
