DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECT

The downtown core of Campbell River needed a facelift – and while area residents knew there was a need for upgrades, they weren’t prepared for the year of disruptive underground infrastructure work that would literally lay the groundwork for an improved downtown. To keep the public informed of the pipes and utilities work to be undertaken, the City retained ZINC to provide communications support through a year of traffic congestion, noise and construction work to ensure residents, businesses and stakeholders understood the project. Traditional and digital tools (such as e-newsletters, online project diaries, social media) were used to keep everyone informed and minimize disruption during construction. (This work was awarded an international Gold MarCom award for Communications Planning.)
