Comox Valley Water Treatment Project
Construction on the $126M water treatment project officially began in the fall of 2019, and included installation of a new water intake in Comox Lake, lakeshore pump station, transmission lines and treatment plant. ZINC lead all public communications through construction of the project, including: creation and distribution of project update newsletters, open house events, social media posts, timelapse videos, site signage, web content and construction kick-off/grand opening events.
While ZINC’s support through the construction phase was significant, it actually began a few years before shovels hit the ground. Starting in 2017, the ZINC team saw the project through an AAP, grant funding announcement, contract award and helped prepare the public for the work to come. In September 2021, construction of the project was complete, and it now provides a safe, reliable source of drinking water to over 50,000 residents in the Comox Valley.
